Every year I give myself three categories for Game of the year. Mobile game of the year, Favorite game that did not release this year, and finally Game of the year. For the first two categories, I will have a winner and two runners up and for the final category, I will have a top 5.
Mobile game of the year:
This category is always tough for me since I play so many mobile games. I thought I had my top three and then a game came out later in the year that threw me for a loop and shook up my list. The four contenders for my Mobile game of the year are Clap Hanz Golf, Contra Returns, Marvel Future Revolution, and Rocket League Sideswipe.
Winner: Rocket League Sideswipe
Rocket League Sideswipe gets played every day by me. It is a mobile friendly version of Rocket League. Instead of a 3D plane, you are only moving in 2D making ariel shots key. They made being in the air easier than ever. Pulling off some crazy shots and saves gives you a great feeling that just never gets old. Everyone should be playing this.
Runners up: Clap Hanz Golf and Contra Revolution.
Favorite game that did not release this year:
I played a lot of games off my backlog this year. My backlog is ever growing but this year was my year to finally take some games off my wall of shame. This winner was a no contest for me. I put easily 50 plus hours into this game this year and I would out more if I didn’t force myself to move on.
Winner: Ghost Recon Wildlands
There's not much more I can say about this game besides that it is just pure fun. You can play it however you want, with anyone you want, or be like me and just do it all solo. This is one of my favorite games of all time and I think everyone should play it.
Runners up: Halo 5 and Marvels Avengers
Game of the year:
When the year started, I thought I found my game of the year in January. Hitman 3 came out early and it was my game of the year and I thought nothing would beat it out, but something did. This was a tough list to narrow down but here it is
5.Back 4 Blood
1.Far Cry 6
Far Cry 6 does not reinvent the wheel but it continues to take its familiar formula and keeps it enjoyable for hours. The shooting feels better than ever, the characters are all well written and acted. If you are not a fan of Far Cry this won't make you a fan, but if you are a fan there is a good chance this will be your favorite.
As discussed on an episode of Game Bites Anthony's game of the year was Halo Infinite. For his reasons why be sure to check out Game Bites.
