Halo 3 ODST almost broke me. It was one of the hardest video game struggles of my life. Somehow I made it and for some reason, I wanted to continue my Halo journey and go to Halo 4. I must continue to ask myself why?

What I remember about Halo 4 from its release, and how my experience has been playing Halo 4 today, could not be more different. When Halo 4 first came out I remember some of my friends talking and hearing other people's opinions on it, and it being mostly negative. Halo 4 was the first Halo to move to new developers, 343 Studios. It didn’t take me too long to realize either my memory was wrong, which is totally possible, or everyone else was wrong because I was pleasantly surprised.
It took a while but finally, we have a new enemy to fight and it brings an arsenal of new weapons. The Prometheans kept things fresh and only in some cases did they get to be a little too much but as a whole, it was exactly what Halo needed for me.
The story was the easiest for me to follow and was told well. It kept me engaged and I wanted to press on to see how everything turned out.
Halo 4 was the first halo that did not feel like a chore for me. I wanted to play it, I didn’t feel like I had to play it. This was exactly what I was waiting for. A modern Halo game that’s easy to follow and fun to play.
When the credits rolled I was never more excited to jump to the next game than I was here. The leaps made in Halo 4 to make it more of a modern shooter were mechanics I could not wait to see grow in Halo 5. On to the next one and for once I’m excited.
Halo 4 did it, it's the mainline Halo game I have been waiting for. It has a great story, it was easy to follow and we finally got some new enemies thrown in. On top of all that, we had a game that felt modern. Halo finally didn’t feel like a product of its time. It just felt right. This is the best numbered Halo by far.
